The next OPF Hackathon - A Practical Approach to Preservation Systems - will focus on preservation workflows and systems. It will consider a large number of widely available tools that are being used both by the community and in industry.
The OPF is a consortium member of the SCAPE (Scalable Preservation Environments) project, co-funded by the EU. http://www.scape-project.eu/.
The OPF is hosting two hackathons events in Cologne (31 August - 2 September) and York (27 - 29 September) and invites digital preservation practitioners and developers to register now.
In November 2010 JISC joined the OPF as a charter member. Its role has been to foster interest from the higher education sector in developing digital preservation tools and technologies. The OPF and JISC will work together to contribute to establishing a curriculum for teaching digital preservation practices and to advance research and development. There have been some excellent discussions on the OPF blogs about a range of issues, and we would like to thank those of you who have contributed to that. This has illustrated the incredible amount of knowledge in the community about the digital preservation challenges we face, and also about potential solutions.

The Danish National Archives, the State and University Library, the Royal Library and the Danish Film Institute are pleased to announce the release of a new website, www.digitalbevaring.dk, which shares knowledge about digital preservation.
