OPF needs your input and feedback

It is part OPF’s mission and plan to sustain tools and practices from Planets and other R&D initiatives relevant to digital preservation and long term access. Most Software products from R&D projects run Software prototypes on platforms that are suitable for R&D purposes. From a development perspective totally OK and fine as long as there is no serious intention to deploy these tools and practices in production.

For all products and services that are planned for production, we need to explore requirements. Not only do we need to explore from a functional perspective, but even more from a systems perspective.

Tools that stay on the shelf, will never mature and as such will never evolve into the tools that we all need to support and execute a digital preservation and long term access workflow.

We need your feedback on functionality and deployability of all tools that we plan to maintain and mature.

Furthermore we need to receive more feedback about what we really need and we must make this part of a requirement process. For the functionality we need input from the practitioners community and together with a development community we need to make this from systems and applications perceptive explicit.

As part of a continuous requirement process OPF will issue questionnaires on a frequent base. We would like you to share these questionnaires with as much people in your organization that are actively involved in Digital Preservations and Long term access.  Users, Specialists/Practitioners, Developers, IT staff. Developing sustainable solutions requires input and feedback from all.

Everyone can register as OPF community member and we will value your feedback and opinion.
